Celebrities and Politicians Exposed

We are getting accustomed these days to turning on the news and seeing the sinful natures of celebrities and politicians exposed. Their power, wealth, and fame gives their sinful natures the opportunity to “go big” in all of their failures.

But what is exposed in these celebrities and politicians is what is true about all of us. The Word declares that nothing good lives in us, that is in our sinful natures (Romans 7:18-20) and that all fall short (Romans 3:23). Human depravity is no respecter of persons.

We measure sin and judge some sins to be worse than others. But to God, all sin is damnable and deserving of death.

Our only hope of being able to withstand God’s judgment of sin is if the root problem, our sinful nature, is dealt with—and it has been!

God was in Christ, reconciling totally depraved, sinful human beings to himself, not counting their sins against them (2 Corinthians 5:19).

God has laid on Jesus the iniquity of us all (Isaiah 53:6).

God made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Because of Christ and His cross…

“My sin [and your sin], not in part but the whole,
is nailed to the cross, and we bear it no more.
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul.”
